Facials Aftercare for Nex Custom Facial - 60 min: 48 Hours & What to Avoid
By Nex Med Aesthetics | July 31, 2026
Most important rule for the first 48 hours: keep your skin cool and calm. That means no sweating, no hot showers, and no direct Miami sun right after your facial. One of our birthday facial clients told us he walked out looking brighter and glowier right away, and this is how you protect that fresh, just-treated look.
Our Nex Custom Facial - 60 min is a full hour of deep cleansing, targeted treatment steps, and hydration for a healthy, radiant glow. People love that it doesn’t feel rushed, and that “meant for me” feeling comes from the questions we ask before we even touch your skin. Now let’s keep your results looking fresh.
The first 24 to 48 hours: keep heat, sweat, and friction off your face
Right after a professional facial, your skin is usually a little more reactive. That’s not a bad thing. It’s just freshly cleaned, freshly hydrated, and often a bit flushed. In Miami, heat and humidity can push that into irritation fast, so we generally recommend you treat the first two days like “recovery mode.”
Do this
- Wash with a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water. Keep it simple.
- Moisturize with a lightweight, non-greasy formula that won’t feel heavy in July humidity.
- Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ the next morning and reapply if you’re outdoors.
Avoid this
- Heavy exercise, saunas, and steam for 24 to 48 hours. Sweat plus heat can trigger bumps and redness.
- Hot showers with your face directly in the water. Turn your back to the spray and keep water warm, not hot.
- Direct sun exposure. Miami sun is strong year-round and freshly treated skin can pigment more easily.
Kendall West tip: If you booked after work, skip the gym that night and take a cooler shower instead. That one choice often makes the difference between calm skin and a random “why am I breaking out?” moment.
The first week: protect that bright, glowy look you saw in the mirror
A lot of people tell us they leave Nex Med Aesthetics looking “fresh and glowing.” Some even say it looks like we stripped away years of wear and tear. The first week is about keeping that glow steady instead of accidentally scrubbing it away or cooking it in the sun.
Hold off on active ingredients for 48 to 72 hours
We generally recommend pausing retinoids, exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA), scrubs, and peel-at-home products for at least 48 to 72 hours. Even if you “usually tolerate it, ” freshly treated skin can surprise you.
Don’t pick, peel, or “help” flaking
If you get a little dryness, leave it alone. Picking creates inflammation, and inflammation is what turns into a stubborn mark later. This matters even more if you’re prone to post-breakout discoloration.
Be serious about sunscreen in Miami
SPF isn’t just “nice to have.” It protects the smooth, hydrated finish you paid for. If you’re out in Kendall, Tamiami, Westchester, The Crossings, Kendale Lakes, or Three Lakes running errands, keep a travel SPF in the car so you can reapply.
Product choices that make a $129 facial last longer
You don’t need a 10-step routine after your Nex Custom Facial. Simple tends to win for the first few days.
- Cleanser: gentle, non-stripping, no scrubbing tools for 48 to 72 hours.
- Moisturizer: lightweight hydration that seals in water without feeling greasy in Miami humidity.
- SPF: broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning. If you sweat easily, look for a lightweight, non-comedogenic feel so you’ll actually wear it.
- Makeup: wait at least 24 hours for full-coverage foundation. If you need something sooner, a mineral-based tint is often the safer pick while skin calms.
And yes, if we sent you home with specific recommendations after asking about allergies and goals, stick with those first. That’s how we keep your results looking like they were “meant for you.”
When to reach out to our team (normal flushing vs a real problem)
Most people leave feeling relaxed and a little extra glowy, sometimes so relaxed it takes a minute to get your bearings. Mild redness, a warm feeling, or slight tightness that settles within a day is common after many professional facial treatments.
Usually normal
- Light pinkness or flushing that fades within 24 hours
- A hydrated “plump” feeling, or mild tightness that improves after moisturizer
- A couple of tiny bumps if you got overheated or wore heavy makeup too soon
Reach out to us
- Redness that keeps getting worse after 24 to 48 hours
- Blistering, crusting, or swelling that feels intense
- Burning or sensitivity that doesn’t calm with a gentle routine
“I love this place. Everyone is professional, friendly and the services really work. They are honest in their assessments and don’t push you towards things you don’t need. I keep coming back because of all this”

Quick drive-home tip for Miami heat: Keep the car cool and avoid touching your face. A clean paper towel on the headrest can help if you’re prone to sweat, and it’s an easy way to keep bacteria away from freshly treated skin.
If you’re unsure about a product you want to use, or you’re planning something like a peel facial treatment soon after, just ask us first. We’d rather give you a clear yes or no than have you guess and lose your glow.
